Lynzy Lab Stewart is a native Texan whose purpose in life, she believes, is to create.
She has been very fortunate enough to make a successful career for herself in the arts, however, it was only in the last couple years that she discovered an affinity for the visual arts. Lynzy has spent the majority of her life as a dancer, choreographer, and educator. She has danced professionally for many years, and is currently a full-time lecturer at Texas State University in San Marcos, where she teaches for the Department of Theatre and Dance. It wasn't until December of 2016 that Lynzy first picked up a brush and began to experiment with putting her artistic abilities to use on canvas. She started with watercolor and eventually transitioned into acrylics and the eclectic adventure that is mixed media.
Lynzy loves to express herself through authentic work, which manifests itself differently in each piece. She tows the line between being the creator and being the vessel for the creation itself, but ultimately feels that her most honest work comes when she relinquishes control, letting the art move through her and out of her, and painting with abandon. Lynzy uses her art as language, and so her work sometimes represents very personal aspects of her life and psyche. Like her choreography, Lynzy infuses color, light, and movement, into her paintings and, through this new passion, the canvas has become her stage.
Lynzy loves to collaborate on pieces and enjoys working closely on projects with her husband Neil, whom she has deemed a "Master Collageur". When Lynzy isn't painting or dancing, you can usually find her snuggling with her two adorable rescue pups Puzzle and Gravy (they rescued her), or cooking up something healthy and delicious in the kitchen.
With genuine zeal, Lynzy invites you to view her collection and encourages you to reach out with any questions or comments. While she knows not every piece may have a home, she hopes every one who views her art finds something that moves or inspires them. Art, in all forms, is a beautiful contagion - find your creativity; spread the love; beautify our world.
